Our Co-Director & Founder Lisa Ventura has issued the following statement about EC-Council and CISO Magazine:
I would like to formally announce that I and the UK Cyber Security Association is distancing completely from CISO Magazine and the EC-Council.
When the first incident unfolded in April with them that 🛡️Alyssa Miller called out, details on this link – https://www.infosecurity-magazine.com/blogs/the-story-of-the-eccouncil-gender/ – I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I hoped that through the work she was doing with them that they would change, grow and develop as an organisation, but recent shocking events around plagiarism has shown me that this is not the case.
Therefore I renounce the “Infosec Superwoman of 2020” award that they gave me last year and withdraw from any association with both CISO Magazine and EC-Council with immediate effect. I have asked that any reference to me and the UK Cyber Security Association is removed from their websites, and I have done the same and removed any reference to them from my website and the UK Cyber Security Association’s website.
I truly hope that change can be made within CISO Magazine and EC-Council. I can’t do much, but I can do this. Sadly, as change has not been forthcoming and more importantly lessons don’t seem to have been learned, and things seem to be getting worse, not better, I am left with no choice but to take this public stance.
Today I stand with Alyssa Miller, who I respect and admire greatly for all she does to call out bad behaviour, and the Infosec community. I support her efforts to bring about change wholeheartedly. We need to #BeTheChange in our industry, and we need to #DoBetterBeBetter as said in a tweet from Alyssa now more than ever.
